Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate

A E600,000 investment in environmental stewardship in Rouen (21/1/2009)

On December 5th 2008 we inaugurated a new waste-water treatment station at our Rouen plant in France. The new treatment station complements our company-wide commitment to minimising our environmental impact and to protecting and conserving natural resources.

Although water is obviously not a key component in the manufacture of chocolate, the factory discharges nearly 36,000 cubic metres of water per annum. The new state-of-the-art treatment station allows for automated control of different variables such as pH and temperature which will greatly improve the treatment of industrial waste-water. The increased capacity of 250 cubic metres will also be able to cope with any future increase in production capacity at the factory.
