Insights in the cocoa market

The volatility in the cocoa markets created the need for many of our customers to better understand and navigate the risks and opportunities created by the market environment. With our extensive, global sourcing operations we are ideally positioned to gather unique market insights to help our customers.

Our research department analyses the cocoa bean and end product markets for over 20 years, using data collected by our crop surveying teams. Throughout the year these teams visit cocoa farms, in all the major cocoa producing countries, to gather information about the development of the crop, diseases, pre- and post harvesting practises at the farm level, the use of pesticides and fungicides etc. Their findings are sent to our headquarters in Wormer, the Netherlands, where our analysts combine these data with weather reports, cocoa trade and price statistics and other relevant information to make complete, in-depth analysis of the cocoa markets.

We use this information internally for strategic purposes and to optimise our operations, but also to share our market insights with our valued customers.
