Sustainability reporting streamlined - audits successful (08/07/2011)

With more than half of Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate's plants already having passed, the Sedex audits are nearly complete. Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange Service) is a nonprofit organization that has established a comprehensive ethical practices questionnaire and a secure electronic repository for responses. This supports easier and more efficient reporting on sustainability for both our customers and ourselves.

TThe questionnaire covers business ethics, worker health and safety, as well as environmental and labour issues. For third-party verification of information entered in the questionnaire, each Cargill facility will also undergo a Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). The audit report will become a customer facing document in the Sedex system.

The remaining plants will be audited within the next 6 months, and the newly acquired KVB facilities by mid-2012. For more info please see http://www.cargillcocoachocolate.com/News%20Centre/2010_sept_article04.shtml or contact your account manager.
