Center of Expertise for Cocoa opens in Wormer (05/06/2012)

 

On April 19 we were happy to celebrate the opening of our new Center of Expertise for Cocoa. The Center crowns our long-term project to expand our cocoa processing facilities in Wormer, the Netherlands, home of the world renowned Gerkens® cocoa powders.

With its state-of-the-art facilities and expert teams, the Center places all Cargill's cocoa quality, technology and innovation expertise at customers' fingertips.

In addition, an increase in production capacity at our Wormer plant has improved our ability to respond to growing demand for our high quality cocoa powders.

The Center includes an ISO 17025 accredited quality control laboratory, a pilot plant for developing new products and processes, and an expanded expert taste panel to provide fine sensorial evaluation for cocoa liquor and powder products. At the Wormer plant, we already produce over 100 types of cocoa powder under our premium Gerkens® brand.

This world-class facility an excellent addition to Cargill's existing cocoa and chocolate network, will support our growth strategy while bringing customer service to a new level. We look forward to partnering with our customers in innovating products, processes and recipes.
