Educational books for schools in Tema (05/06/2012)

In Ghana we continue to support schools and education, most recently by delivering over 100,000 educational books to schools in the Tema region.

Working with Books for Africa, Cargill donated 77,250 USD (58,700 EUR) to promote literacy in Ghana and provide 27 local primary and secondary schools with much needed educational resources. The books, mainly textbooks, were chosen specifically to support the local schools' curriculums. Cargill Ghana employees distributed the books.

Cargill is also sponsoring a new Law and Democracy library at the University of Ghana. As part of this project the university's legal faculty will receive approximately 9,500 legal textbooks.

Most of the students at these local schools have had only limited access to textbooks. By partnering with Books for Africa we can take a few steps toward addressing this. We are extremely pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile project.
